The Exeter Township School District will award diplomas to 325 graduates at 7PM on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at the Santander Arena in Reading, PA. During the evening’s ceremony, speakers will include Exeter Township Senior High Principal Thomas Campbell, Superintendent Dr. Christy Haller, Senior Class President Brody Oswald, and class speakers Patrick Smith and Amber Urena. In graduates’ prepared remarks, students will discuss the value of dreaming to achieve their goals and aspirations. In his prepared speech, Urena plans to say that she believes her classmates will hear her name and her classmates’ names again: “I want you to dream without confines. Believe that you can make it to the top. You already succeeded at the first step so it will be no problem for you to carry out the rest… Your dream is valuable and you should treat it as such… May your drive to make it to the top be stronger than any adversity that you face.”  Smith plans to encourage his classmates to dream “big,” which he will say is the purpose to chase the wildest dreams by overcoming fears. He also plans to apologize to his parents for not settling for a “Plan B.” “Going through high school my parents and the majority of my peers always told me to ‘have something to fall back on…’ I never listened to my parents as usual (but) I have come to believe that if you know you have something to fall back on you may not try your hardest for what you actually want. The quickest way to succeed is to start now and figure it out as you go. There is no manual to success and you can’t learn to drive a parked car.”
