Communications

The Communications & Public Relations Department is proud to highlight and champion the work and accomplishments of our students, teachers and staff to keep our parents and community in the know about what's going on in Exeter schools.

Through the accurate and timely delivery of transparent information, our department creates content for our social media channels and efficiently centralizing district communication on ParentSquare--our district's communications hub and app. The department also maintains and updates the district website.

We love to hear about great story ideas or how we can help communicate with you better. To send us a story idea, or pass along your suggestion, please email us to get in touch.

  • If you'd like to distribute information about a registration or event to the school community, please see the following guidelines to submit your information:

Content posted to the school community must adhere to the following guidelines:

    • Your organization enrolls at least 75% Exeter students (such Exeter youth sports, Cub Scouts, etc.)
    • Is sponsored by a non-profit organization
    • Takes place on ETSD school property or within district boundaries
    • Has an educational component to it and is related to the mission and values of the ETSD

Courtesy Posts are published every other Friday. Information should be submitted to communications@exetersd.org two weeks in advance for your desired Friday publication date.

Your flyer must be available in a JPEG (for the post) and a PDF (for the attachment).

For your event/registration to be posted, you must provide the following typed information in a short paragraph that you send in an email:

    • What the event/registration is
    • Who it applies to
    • When it is
    • Where it is (please also include address)
    • How much it costs
    • How someone registers
    • Who to contact or where someone can find more information (you must type the URL if referring to a QR code--most people are looking at the post on their phone and cannot scan the QR code).

Although this information may be on your flyer, the information must be typed into our post for it to be accessible/readable for all of our parents. Please do not type "see flyer" for any of the information above. An example is below:

    • Your flyer as both a JPEG and a PDF
    • Your desired publication date (Fridays only, at least 2 weeks in advance)

  • At the beginning of each school year, we provide parents/guardians an opportunity to opt their child out of appearing in district media, which includes (but is not limited to): social media, website, email, app, printed newsletters and flyers, etc.

Parents are presented with this acknowledgment in Q when they are accepting the terms of their student's handbook, updating their information and receiving their child's class and bus schedules.

Should you decide that you would prefer your child to not be highlighted on district media, please email the Communications Department as well as your child’s teacher. So that we can keep accurate records of these requests, please renew this form each school year if needed.

  • The Exeter Township School District provides news and information about students, teachers, programs and services throughout the school year on our social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and more. It’s our goal to create a warm and friendly community for future, current and former students and their families, teachers and staff, community members and taxpayers.

We take your right to privacy seriously: As noted and acknowledged in your student’s handbook, all parents and guardians are eligible to opt their children out of district communication, including social media, at the beginning of each school year by contacting their child’s school principal. If you do not want your child featured on a social media post that has already been published, please contact the ETSD Communications Department at communications@exetersd.org or by phone at 610-898-9589 to ask that your child’s photo or name be removed.

Social Media Guidelines: Depending on the post, most social media comments are limited. If comments are open, we welcome diverse viewpoints and thoughtful engagement related to our social media content. We do not welcome comments that are solicitations by outside groups who post links to other sites to view content or purchase merchandise. Those comments will be automatically hidden. We also reserve the right to hide comments that:

    • Threaten or personally attack students or staff
    • Promote violence, discrimination or any other form of illegal or illicit activity
    • Use profane, vulgar or lewd imagery or words

Whether positive or negative, almost all comments are moderated and monitored by the Communications Department to ensure these standards are met.
